In light of this, the President of the Serving Wing of Publishers, Zia-ur-Rehman, made the following statement: “While speaking in this regard, I would like to request the government of Punjab to subsidize the paper that is used in the printing of textbooks,” adding that a significant amount of the students’ time has already been wasted.
On the other hand, the State Education Department of Punjab (SED Punjab) has asserted that the department is making concerted efforts to get the printing of textbooks restarted, and they have guaranteed that students in classes 6, 7, and 8 will receive textbooks by the end of July.
Approximately three million students started the new academic year in Punjab without having received their textbooks. On the other hand, during the summer vacation, they are expected to complete homework assignments without the use of textbooks. In the previous month, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif issued a stern warning against the delayed printing of books.
